About Us

Our Commitment

At Helping Her Foundation (HHF), we believe that menstrual health is a human right. No one should have to choose between their dignity and a basic necessity. Since 2015, we have worked to reduce period poverty and menstrual inequality across Trinidad and Tobago by providing access to essential sanitary products and promoting menstrual health education.

How We Started

Helping Her began when our founder, Samantha Duncan, used social media in 2015 to shed light on the silent struggle of period poverty. What started as a small awareness campaign grew into a registered non-profit organization in 2018, expanding with the support of four passionate young women—Celeste Simpson-Rooks, Sara Ilkhtchoui, Alexis Alonzo, and Shannon McKenzie.

Why Our Work Matters

In Trinidad and Tobago, menstruation is still a taboo topic. Many individuals (particularly those from vulnerable communities)struggle to afford period products or access reliable menstrual health support. This leads to missed school days, lost work opportunities, and emotional distress, perpetuating cycles of poverty and gender inequality.

HHF is committed to breaking the stigma, advocating for change, and creating a society where menstruation is never a barrier to progress.
